Our History

1947 — WINN MFG.
After serving in WWII, L.R. “Bud” Harris started in the garage door business in 1947 while working with Winn Manufacturing of Portland, Oregon.

1949 — COLUMBIA DOOR
Bud moved to Columbia Door in 1949 and helped innovate, develop and manufacture an aluminum one-piece door.

1955 — GOING SOLO
Bud started his own business, providing contract installations for other door companies and ran a crew of installers. Early in 1956 Bud started selling doors to individuals.

1960 — L.R. HARRIS CO,
With his wife Anita, “L.R. Harris Co., Inc.” was incorporated as the work grew and the continued to sell installed doors to individuals and contractors.

1985 — GROWING UP
Harris Door Company stopped the installation & service offering, and fully commited to the growing manufacturing and dealer business. Harris Door grew to become the most renowned overhead door company in the Northwest.

1993 — NEW BEGINING
Harris Door was eventually sold. After decades of expereince working along side his father – “Bud” – at Harris Door Co., Steve Harris created his own garage door company: Pacific Overhead Door.

1999 — RETURN TO WOOD
The original Harris Door wood manufacturing equipment was found, and brought back to life. First, producing traditional panel doors, then growing over the years to create new products.

2004 — PACDOOR
With growing demand, the company moved to a larger facility, expanding manufacturing and wholesale distribution under the new name, Pacdoor.

2016 — NEXT GENERATION
Alex Harris, Steve’s son, joined the company after years of experience in the industry, continuing the family legacy.

2019 — ALUMINUM
The company launched Apollo, an aluminum full-view door line, to provide greater customization and service in the local aluminum door market.

2023 — RETURN
Pacdoor transitioned back to Harris Door Company, paying tribute to its founder and heritage.

2024 — CHI OVERHEAD DOORS
Harris Door Company became an OEM Distributor for CHI Overhead Doors in the Northwest, enhancing dealer access and offering true wholesale pricing.
